Debbie Hootman formed The Cross Roads Gospel Band in 1996 when she felt
the need to return to her roots, having grown up in a family with a country music
band and a father who played several bluegrass instruments. Debbie sings lead
and alto harmony.
She was joined by Ed Law in 1997, who has been playing guitar since he was ten
years old. Ed plays the twelve string and six string guitars, as well as singing lead
and harmony vocals (both baritone and tenor) and arranges many of our songs.
Li Roberson joined the group in the spring of 2004 with her fine soprano voice
and joyous delivery. She also is wonderful at all things computer-oriented and is
a big help with graphics for our CD’s, posters and the like.
After having just a guitar and a bass in the group for a year and a half, God sent
Kevin Donovan to join us with his expertise on the six string guitar. He also
supplies baritone and bass vocals for the group.
Dave Beckman is a CrossRoads “re-tread” in that he played bass with us for
many years before taking a sabbatical; when we had an opening last fall, we were
thrilled to have him re-join our group.
The newest member of the group is the multi-talented Tony Sanchez, who plays
mandolin, harmonica and dobro with us.
All members of the band participate in writing songs for the group. CrossRoads
plays a mixture of Southern Gospel, Country Gospel and Bluegrass Gospel
music. We have a lot of fun sharing the God-given gift of music to spread the
Word of our Lord!
